Well, the lateness of this post is a testament to the balance I keep (none) in my business. I'm pretty heavy on shooting, and have a really hard time staying up to date on editing and the website, unless, I've discovered recently, I promise to have pictures up at such and such a time for previewing, such as with the Lindsey's. So, when I take your pictures, make sure to remind me to get pictures posted pronto! Otherwise, you may have to wait a very long time to see them (on the website, that is)!!

Ode to Knollwood + No Landscapers

We love where we live. It's such a nice place, and so so so much better than where we used to camp out, but lately, for some reason, there have been no landscapers! It's been somewhere in the neighborhood of three weeks since the lawns were mown! I've been tempted to offer to do it myself, and probably would have if I weren't so busy with work, school, and more work! I'm grateful to be busy, and, landscaped or not, I'm very grateful for a place to call HOME.

You'll have to pardon my obsession with this little lady; it's just that she's so darling. The funny thing is, I've noticed that I tend to be my worst critic. I took these photos close to a year ago and, other than giving them to Shay's parents, I've never even looked at them again because I thought I did a terrible job. But hey, looking at them now, I'd have to say they don't look half bad!

It's days like this that I know I'm in the right business because each time we shoot a wedding, Sam and I inevitably get transported back in time to our own blissful day, the happiest of our lives up to that point.

Zak and Kirt had an amazing setup; from the beauty of the location, to the simple elegance of their decorations and other arrangements, those who brought it all together took part in creating a piece of heaven on earth.

Meet AJ and Cami Rimmasch, our favorite in-laws on the Rimmasch side. We met up at Whitney and Jake's wedding in SLC and then decided to have a photo shoot! Oh so much fun. The light was fantastic, the kids were all smiles (well, mostly :D), and Uncle Mark's backyard made for some great backgrounds, don't you think? Magic.

The Easter car show was a blast a while back! A blast from the past! Haha, just thought of that. There were lots of amazing cars there - old and new, and people young and old. It was a great time. I took waaay too many pictures (as usual), which is honestly why I haven't posted any of them up yet, is because posting means choosing my favorite pix, and I just couldn't bring myself to not show the ones that weren't as favorite as the other ones, and so I just didn't post.

Check her OUT! Isn't she a doll? We're so stinking excited to tell everyone that we're going to have a baby! OK, OK, so you can't see much more than a little bump, but we couldn't wait to do a tummy shoot!

Those of you who know me (Ronnie) personally, will attest to the fact that I'm absolutely horrible at keeping this thing up to date, but now I have hope. I'm going to have a baby to show off! There's nothing that excites me more than having our own little munchkin and documenting his/her (hopefully her!) early life through photography and showing her? off to the whole wide world on this blog.

Anyway, enough about the kid, this is about Sam right? LOL. But anyway, seriously, Sam, this is for you. I love you more than anything and am so grateful for you in my life and for everything you do. My wife is the best EVER!

Windows 7 - is it worth it?

Aside from photography, one of my other major passions is geeking around with computers. I haven't let that out much on this blog - Actually I guess it's fair to say I haven't let much of anything out about myself on this blog - but I plan to change that. I've turned over a new updating leaf, so hopefully you'll get more of a glimpse into me and the guy behind the photos as I continue to post. Ok, on with what I was originally posting about...

I've been running Windows 7 beta for about 5 months now, and it's been pretty cool, haven't gotten too serious with it. Yesterday I downloaded the RC (Release Candidate) version and installed it this morning to see what changes had been made.
On my primary hard drive, I'm running Vista 64. It's been pretty cool, and I've defended it against the anti-switch-from-XP people who just can't seem to realize that Windows XP is a dying breed - not because it isn't a good OS, because it is, but because change is coming, and I've found that it is coming in a big way. The new Windows 7 is turning out to far exceed my expecations, both as a geek, and as a consumer who wants an effective, convenient, uncluttered, yet attractive interface to work in.
I'll tell you now, Microsoft has achieved something with Windows 7 RC. I thought the beta version was cool, but like I said, I didn't get too into it because it felt like more of a toy than anything to get serious with, but from the outset, the RC version started off impressive. With previous installs of windows, I've planned in about half my day post-install to dedicate to locating and installing drivers for all my devices. Windows 7 installed all of them before I was even asked for any user input other than my time zone. And you know, I figured it shouldn't have too much trouble with most of my hardware - it's all pretty run-of-the-mill stuff - all except for my wireless adaptor, which is pretty obscure, and all previous versions of windows, especially Vista, have had lots of issues with it, even when I did install the correct driver. Not 7 though. Not only did it install automatically, but also came up with dear Pauletta's (the lady next door whose internet I like to "borrow") wireless connection and asked me if I wanted to connect. Never before have I been connected before windows started up. Yeah, it was refreshing.
So, if any of you are considering the change, I highly recommend it. Microsoft has it for free for almost a whole year. It will be good until June of next year, but bi-hourly restarts will start on March 1, 2010. Pretty good pay-back for making us endure Vista, eh?

Well, I found this new, fascinating thing called Lightbox. ....And I've been having some troubles getting it to work. If you click on the image above, it's supposed to come up in a translucent window and display the picture on top of the blog, instead of taking you to a separate page and making you hit 'back' to see the rest of my pictures....ah, well, i guess if it always worked the first time, I'd never learn anything, eh! Please help me, anyone out there who can tell me what I've done wrong!

We got to do photos at the 1st Annual St. George Community Valentine's Dance and it was a real blast! The dance was stellar and the refreshments, music, and decorations were fantastic! Check it out next year!

Meet Daniel and Megan Kitchell! Daniel and I went to school together for as long as I can remember, and Megan is a friend I met while singing in Inspiration at Dixie State. How funny life is, and what an amazing coincidence that these two people I know from very different places met and got married and I got to take their pictures! These two were a blast to work with, and I'm glad their photos turned out so well! What a beautiful (sorry Daniel :)) couple, and what great times lie ahead for them as they embark on the wonderful journey called marriage!

Jessica was kind enough to agree to let me take a few shots at her for my portfolio and boy am I glad Janessa decided to tag along as well! Some of the best shots were of both of them together.
